Hot ones

Hi there,

We just launched the Future Tech Hotshots — a list of 52 emerging tech startups with high momentum and potential for a major exit.

All of these companies have less than 100 employees.

The blueprint

Finding the most promising up-and-coming startups is a key need we hear from CBI customers.

So we built this list with the goal of creating a blueprint of signals that you can use — quickly and with confidence — to build your own.

For this group of hotshots, we narrowed a list of thousands of startups down to nearly 400 based on their commercial maturity, health (Mosaic scores), strong management teams, and more using the CBI platform. CB Insights customers can filter further on metrics like business model, total funding, and headcount growth rate at this link.

We then went one by one — looking at each startup’s investors, team, market, product, and business relationships, as well as reviewing their Buyer Interviews and Analyst Briefings — to reach our final list of 52 startups.

Global reach

The Future Tech Hotshots represent 8 countries around the world.

The list features startups from the US, India, Canada, Germany, Singapore, Kenya, Sweden, and the UK.

AI at the core

Nearly half of these future hotshots offer AI as a core product offering.

While some target horizontal AI applications, others are leveraging AI in specific areas ranging from cybersecurity to agriculture.

For example, this customer of legal writing platform Clearbrief identified its AI features as a key strength:

Most likely to get acquired

While we’ve created this list with an eye toward a 5- to 10-year exit timeline, some of these startups are more likely than the rest to get acquired in the next 2 years, according to CB Insights’ Exit Probability algorithm.

In particular, 3 startups — Aliro (cyber), Laudio (healthcare), and Mavenoid (support automation) — are in the top 10% of all private companies eligible for scoring on the CBI platform.

These likelihoods are based on analysis of historical data of similar companies.

Leading investors

Andreessen Horowitz has stakes in 7 companies on the list — more than any other investor.
