Not: OpenAI co-founder retention

This week, OpenAI co-founder John Schulman left for rival AI startup Anthropic.

OpenAI’s president and another co-founder Greg Brockman also announced he would be taking an extended leave.

Other recent departures include co-founder Ilya Sutskever, who is working on a new project, and Jan Leike, who joined Anthropic.

Hot: 6G momentum

The emergence of 6G communications could help drive the transition to more automated and connected factories.

While we are still years away from this next-gen tech, major players are working hard to make it a reality.

For example, Cisco, Dell, Ericsson, Nokia, Intel, and Qualcomm collaborated with Purdue University on a 6G roadmap last year.

And earlier this year, Nvidia released a research platform to accelerate the development of 6G tech.

Not: Big tech's fintech products

Big tech companies are pulling back from launching their own financial products.

For example:

  • Google scrapped its plans to offer bank accounts in 2021
  • Amazon closed most of its cashierless checkout stores last year
  • This past June, Apple discontinued its Pay Later installment payments service (just one year post-launch)

They’ve pivoted to embedding themselves in financial transactions on others’ platforms and supporting financial infrastructure in other ways.
