All for one and one for all

Hi there,

Trend alert: the great bundling?

Companies are doubling down on phrases like “one-stop shop” and “end-to-end” on earnings calls.

Some of the companies mentioning these terms the most since 2021 include Nvidia, ServiceNow, Autodesk, Microsoft, and Cisco.

How are they getting there? One avenue is M&A.

  • Cisco, for example, has made 7 cybersecurity acquisitions since 2022, including Splunk for $28B, to build its cyber portfolio.
  • Autodesk meanwhile highlighted its January acquisition of Payapps, a construction payment and compliance management startup, on a recent earnings call as part of its “end-to-end” construction strategy.

Another is partnerships.

ServiceNow is leaning into messaging as a platform for “end-to-end digital transformation” as highlighted by our earnings insights on its Q4'23 call.

On this front, ServiceNow announced a 5-year strategic alliance earlier this year with Visa to co-develop a dispute management tool for its banking customers.

AI want it all

Multimodal AI — systems that can process various data types, including images, videos, and text — is still in its infancy, but models are quickly evolving.

For example, Google introduced the multimodal model Gemini at the end of 2023.

And Meta just released its open-source genAI model Llama 3 last week, aiming to introduce a multimodal, multilingual version relatively soon.

Several private LLM developers are making multimodal strides as well.

Dive into the trend in this report.
